CJI Chandrachud to grace HCBA event in Nagpur on April 5

Supreme Court judges including Bhushan Gavai, Abhay Oka, Prasanna Varale, and former CJI Sharad Bobde will also attend centenary year celebrations of the HCBA

Nagpur: With a blend of reverence for the past, celebration of the present, and anticipation for the future, the centenary year celebrations of the High Court Bar Association (HCBA) Nagpur, will be held at the High Court Premises in Civil Lines on Friday, April 5, at 6 pm.

The event will witness the presence of esteemed legal luminaries, including Dr Dhananjay Chandrachud, Chief Justice of India. Esteemed Supreme Court judges Justice Bhushan Gavai, Justice Abhay Oka, Justice Prasanna Varale, and former SC Chief Justice Sharad Bobde, along with Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyay, Chief Justice of Bombay High Court, and Justice Nitin Sambre, Chief Administrative Judge, Nagpur Bench of Bombay High Court, will be the guests of honour.

Addressing a press conference on Monday, Adv Atul Pande, President of HCBA, and Adv Amol Jaltare, Secretary of HCBA, said that the inaugural ceremony of the Centenary Year celebrations would be held in presence of distinguished personalities. A felicitation function for beacons of HCBA will be organised at Dr Vasantrao Deshpande hall in Civil Lines on Saturday at 10 am. Justice Bhushan Gavai will remain present as chief guest while Justice Abhay Oka, Justice Prasanna Varale, Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya, and Justice Nitin Sambre will be the guests of honour.

Eminent senior advocates who have contributed to the legal fraternity would be felicitated in the function. Notable personalities to be honoured on this occasion include Senior Advocates V R Manohar, Shrihari Ane, Mahendra Kumar Bhangde, Kumkum Sirpurkar, Subodh Dharmadhikari, Avinash Gordey, Sunil Manohar, C S Kaptan, Anand Jaiswal, Anil Mardikar, Avinash Gupta, Surendra Mishra, Jugalkishore Gilda, Mukesh Samarth, Ravindra Khapre, Justice V C Daga, former judge of Bombay High Court, Adv Arun Patil, former President of HCBA, and Justice Anil Kilor, Judge, Bombay High Court, and former President of HCBA, along with Adv Gauri Venkataraman and others who will be felicitated.

Later in the evening at 6 pm, the cultural segment will commence with the staging of the musical drama ‘Katyar Kaljat Ghusli’, directed by Adv Bhanudas Kulkarni and Sarang Maste. The drama is penned by Late Purushottam Darvekar while music is given by Pt Jitendra Abhisheki.

As the celebrations enter their final day, Sunday, April 7, a friendly cricket match between Bench Vs Bar will be organized at 7.30 am at the VCA ground in Civil Lines. Teams comprising Judges and Lawyers will be pitted against each other. Justice Dipankar Datta, Judge, Supreme Court of India, will be the chief guest of the match while Justice Prasanna Varale will be the guest of honour and Justice Nitin Sambre will also remain present.

Adv Sharad Bhatt, Adv Madhav Lakhe, Adv Vishwajit Oberoi, and others were present in the press conference.
