City Survey officer, civil lines caught red handed accepting bribe

On May 20, 2014 Anti corruption bureau, Nagpur received a complaint from Gajendra Devidayal Khungar, 60, a resident of, 211, Wardhaman Nagar, Nagpur. The complainant had filed an application before the city survey officer for transfer of a plot in mauza Pardi, belonging to Anil Awachal, a resident of, Kacchi Bhavan, Lakadganj.

The application was submitted to Varsha Subhash Bhagat, city survey officer, no. 2, civil lines, Nagpur. It is alleged that Varsha Bhagat demanded a sum of Rs 2,000/ from the complainant for transferring the plot.

The anti corruption bureau laid a trap at city survey office. The accused Varsha Subhash Bhagat demanded a bribe of Rs 2,000/ in front of witnesses and the bribe amount was accepted by Kamal Fakirchand Sudani, 40, LIC agent by occupation. An offence is registered at Sadar police station, under Prevention of Corruption Act, against both the accused who have been arrested.

The search operations are also underway at the residence of Varsha Bhagat at Balaji Nagar, Manewada Road, Nagpur.

The action was conducted under the guidance of deputy commissioner of police/police superintendent, Vasant Shirbhate, anti corruption bureau, Nagpur and H R Reddiwar, additional police superintendent by police inspectors, Pratap Ingle, Ashok Sakharkar. Vilas Khanke, Mahendra Sarpate, Pramil Gaikwad, Santosh Pundkar, Subhash Tanodkar, Ajay Yadav, Shekhar Dhok, Madhukar Tekre, Rajesh Tiwari and Jagdish Ganvir all staff members at anti corruption bureau Nagpur.
