City schools celebrate Children’s Day with ‘Swachhata’ campaign as the focal point

Nagpur: With our Prime Minister Narendra Modi advocating the ‘Swachhata Abhiyan’ (Cleanliness Drive) among the citizens, Union Minister for Human Resource Development Smriti Zubin Irani had started a CBSE Expression Series on “Bal Swachhata Mission” which will be observed by all the schools from November 14 to 19, 2014.

The themes observed on different days will be as follows:
November 14 to be observed as Clean Schools, Surroundings and Play areas.
November 15, 2014 as Clean Food
November 17, 2014 as Clean Self
November 18, 2014 as Clean Drinking Water
November 19, 2014 as Clean Toilet.

The CBSE schools were advised to organize Essay, Poems, Poster, Drawing and Painting for the students. The students can submit their entries in 22 scheduled languages and English.

Not to be left behind, the Children’s Day was celebrated by the students of all the schools (CBSE & State Board) in the city with zeal and enthusiasm. All the students were seen participating in the cleanliness drive whole-heartedly in their schools. The kids took the aura of the Children’s Day to a completely new level.

The Government has initiated Children’s hygiene campaign in schools from November 14 to 19, 2014.

Centre Point School, Wardhamaan Nagar started the day with Swachhta Abhiyan, wherein teachers explained the importance of hygiene to the students. A power-point-presentation was given by the students on cleanliness. The assembly in the morning was conducted by the teachers, usually students do that.

Modern School: A cultural programme was organized at Modern School, wherein teachers participated in dancing and singing competition. A fancy fete was organized in the school.

A German festival was conducted at Pitade Primary High School. Two female volunteers from Germany, who were visiting Nagpur, presented a German cultural programme including songs in German to the school students.

‘Childline Se Dosti’ a social organization for children had organized a poster competition for small kids.

Various programmes were organized in different schools of the city. Each had adopted their innovative styles and manner of getting their students to observe the cleanliness drive.

Raman Science Centre Nagpur in collaboration with ISHRAE, Nagpur Chapter had organized Sit & Draw Competition for the students of Standard Ist to Xth in three categories. Topics such as ‘My Clean & Green School’, ‘Clean India Mission’ , ‘India’s Mars Mission’, and ‘Science & Technology for development of India’ .

The schools also remembered country’s first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru fondly known as ‘Chacha Nehru’ because of his love for children. The children were told about Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and his contributions to the country. A tribute to this great leader of yester years was paid in all the schools.
