City Police gear up for Oct 25 Nagpur Maratha morcha

Nagpur: The police administration has geared up to handle any type of situation that may arise during the October 25 Maratha morcha. The police administration has appointed 100 officers and 875 jawans for the bandobast, informed joint CP Santosh Rastogi.

It is worth a mention here that a grand Maratha morcha has been organised from Reshimbagh Maidan on October 25. The morcha will travel from Mahal, Tilak Putla, Cotton Market Square, Tekri Road, Samvidhan Square and culminate at Kasturchand Park.
A delegation will then visit collectorate and hand over a memorandum.

Rastogi said police is taking preventive measures to avoid any untoward incident from happening during the morcha. He said officials from all police stations will help during the morcha.

DCP Ravindra Pardeshi from special branch said that women will participate in large number in the morcha. He said organisers have been instructed to insure presence of large number of volunteers. Plain cloths policemen will keep a lookout for trouble makers throughout the morcha.

Instruction boards will pe posted along the route and the police and organisers will video record the proceedings.

DCP (traffic) Smartana Patil said traffic will be diverted at 36 locations for the morcha and further decision in this regard will taken on spot. Vehicle parking will be banned at 29 locations and separate arrangements has been done outside the city for people coming from other towns to participate in the morcha.
