Nagpur: Maha Metro Management has made it clear that whether the Chinese Rail Corporation factory comes up in Nagpur or not it will not affect the Metro Project. The setting up of factory is an issue of State Government and its industrial division. The necessary bogies required for the metro will directly come from China. The China Rail Corporation has made an agreement with Maharashtra Government to set up a factory in Nagpur. But still there is an ambiguity about setting up of factory. Due to this it has become a hot topic of discussion about effect of factory on Metro project.

General Manger (Administration) of Mazhi (Nagpur) Metro Anil Kokate informed, according to the agreement made with the Chinese Rail Corporation it is clear that the necessary 69 bogies for the metro will be brought to Nagpur from China. Under the metro project the construction work of metro route is going on in Nagpur city in 39 kms. As per Mazhi Metro 23 bogies are to reach Nagpur in the month of April- June 2018.

Presently the trial run is going on from Airport South to Khapri which is 5 kms route. The trail run is going on with the help of bogies taken on lease from the Hyderabad Metro but in near future they may be purchased if required, as per information of Metro Management.

Metro in problem
Some of social organisations have raised objection over the setting up of Chinese Rail Coproration’s factory in Nagpur. During Doklam problem they even staged demonstration. Seeing the present situation in country and the ties with China, the Metro project might suffer though the agreement has been done with the State Government.
