In an outrageous and cowardly act, a one and a half year old baby boy was suspected to be killed in Warhada village in Kanhan on Tuesday. Sources said that the father of the little boy was told by his father-in-law that the little son has died because of sickness (high fever). However, when the family members removed the apparel worn by the small boy to give him a last bath, they found numerous injury marks all over the body. This caused the father to suspect some foul play and he raised his suspicions to those present in the place. He demanded that the accused be given an exemplary punishment.

According to information, Vinod Udaram Gotmare aged 28 years and a resident of Warhada Village in Kanhan had married the daughter of Govindrao Jhalke, Pallavi a resident of Suraj Nagar Hingna on January 30, 2012.

The father of the victim Vinod Gotmare used to work in some office situated in Chattrapati Nagar, while he used to reside with his wife and small child in Narendra Nagar.

In the month of July 2014, Vinod Gotmare suspected the fidelity of his wife and had a quarrel with her. Sources said that Vinod found out that his wife Pallavi had an illicit affair with some other person. This angered Pallavi who took their one and a half year old boy named Jiten to her maternal house. She had also lodged a complaint with the Ajni Police Station against her husband Vinod Gotmare.

The relatives of Vinod pacified both sides and had decided to call the family members of both families to settle the matter amicably on October 19, 2014. However, on the morning of October 19, 2014, the father-in-law of Gotmare, Govindrao rang him up at 9:56 am and informed him that his son Jiten is seriously sick and that he has been admitted in Gandhi Hospital Dhantoli, Nagpur. Just after 10 minutes, i.e. 10:06 am, Vinod again got a call from his father-in-law saying that his son has passed away.

Vinod rushed to the hospital and the doctor asked him to take his deceased son away soon. Vinod took the dead-body of his son to his residence in Narendra Nagar.

The family members and relatives decided to take the dead body of Jiten to Warhada, their native place for the last rites. On reaching there, the family members started the process of the last rites. One of the rite demands that the dead body be bathed. So they started removing the apparel from the dead body of Jiten. However, his mother Pallavi had stopped them from doing so. But on insistence from the relatives, she had to remove the apparel. When the apparel was removed, the relatives were shocked to find black and blue bruises all over the torso.

When the father of the deceased Jiten, Vinod asked his wife Pallavi about these marks, she did not reply. Suddenly, the sister of Pallavi, the father-in-law, mother-in-law and brother-in-law of Vinod took their vehicles and fled from the spot.

This act of his in-laws raised suspicion among all the relatives and family members of Vinod. Vinod then went to Kanhan Police Station at around 4 pm and lodged a complaint against his wife and his in-laws.

The police immediately took possession of the body of the deceased son of Vinod and sent him to Government Sub-District Hospital in Kamptee and sent the body for post-mortem.

On October 20, 2014, the post mortem was performed on the dead body of Jiten and in the evening, at around 5:30, the family members performed the funeral in their field in Warhada.

The father of the tiny tot Vinod alleged that the in-laws had lied to him saying he was allegedly sick and then he died, which is not true. He had demanded an exemplary punishment for the accused that has killed his infant son. The Kanhan police have registered a case against the wife and her family members and are investigating further.
