Chaitanya’s Kidnapping: Cops get sketch of abductor; CCTV shows suspected vehicle!

kidnapperNagpur: Sonegaon police have been groping in the dark as it took help of sketch artist to trace the identity of the accused who is allegedly involved in the broad day night kidnapping of 14 year old Chaitanya Ashtankar from Manish Nagar locality on Thursday. The cops have also traced a white Maruti van through a CCTV footage from the nearby shop. The vehicle was suspected to have been used for the crime.

Chaitanya’s father Subhash Ashtankar is a teacher residing in Popular Society in Manish Nagar. Chaitanya’s mother is also a teacher. Sources said the police were still clueless in the case even after 24 hours of the incident. Meanwhile, the parents have also not received any ransom calls or any update regarding whereabout of their son who was kidnapped on Thursday afternoon while he along with his friend was returning from the school bus stop nearby his home.

Chaitanya left home at 6.45 am on Thursday for a bus stop near Bank of Bikaner, Beltarodi Road. Both the parents of Chaitanya are teacher. When he did not return home by 2.30 pm, his mother called up Subhash. Her daughter Gayatri told her that Chaitanya did not return home. Gayatri further told that Chaitanya was abducted by a gang travelling in a Maruti Eeco car. Soon after, Subhash was informed about the kidnapping of Chaitanya, he rushed to home.

Meanwhile, Sonegaon police was trying to explore the inputs received from Chaitanya’s friend Vikas (name changed), who informed Subhash that after the school bus dropped them near their bus top they walked towards home. He said as they both reached near Navnit Decoration midway, 4-5 persons arrived there in a silver-coloured Maruti Eeco car. One of them disembarked the vehicle and forcefully pushed Chaitanya inside the car and sped away from the spot.
Based on Chaitanya’s Vikas’s description Sonegaon police have got the sketch of the suspected man prepared. Meanwhile a nearby icecream shop also captured the footage of a Maruti Eeco Van around the time of the incident. However the registration number could not be identified from the footage as the CCTV device was installed a bit far.

A massive search operation has been enforced to trace the said vehicle.
