Centre Point School (Katol Road) lift inter school cricket trophy

d270016-largeNagpur: Centre Point School (Katol Road) defeated South Point School by three wickets to emerge champion in the 44th Dadasaheb Karnewar Memorial Inter-school Under-10 Cricket tournament here on Thursday.

The tournament was organised jointly by Vidarbha Gymkhana and Nahatkar Sports Institute at Mecosbagh Ground.

Batting first South Point School were bundled out for 140 runs in their allotted quota of 20 overs. Aryan Selokar was the top performer for his team. He made 53 runs, which included four beautifully crafted boundaries.

He got valuable support from Anuj Tiwari who made 25 runs and Saurabh Rathod who scored 24 runs. Shamit Bundela of Centre Point School was instrumental in stopping South Point School from piling up a huge total on the board.

He picked up wickets at regular intervals to jolt South Point School’s progress. Bundela scalped four wickets giving away 32 runs. Rajvir Jolly claimed two wickets giving away 21 runs while Devansh picked up two wickets giving away 25 runs.

In reply, Centre Point School (Katol Road) chased the target with just one ball to spare for the loss of seven wickets.

Ritwik Wastani anchored the innings at one end. His superb knock of 62, which included seven boundaries, helped CPS (KR) overcome SPS threat in the four-run thriller to clinch the title.

Ritwik thrashed bowlers all over the park and remained focused to his goal. He got good support from Devansh Thakur who made 22 runs, which included three boundaries and Yug Gwalani who made 18 runs including three fours.

All-rounder Aryan Selokar showed his skill with the ball as well. He picked up three wickets to jolt Centre Point School run chase, but all his effort went in vain.

The final match was followed by prize distribution ceremony. Adv Jagdish Karnewar gave away prizes. Devansh Thakar was adjudged best captain while Ritwik Wastani was named best bowler.

Devansh Thakar also bagged best all rounder award. Aryan Selokar was named best sportsman while Rajvir Jolly got best upcoming player award.

Anuj Tiwari was named best junior cricketer. Rutwik Wastani also won best wicket-keeper award.

Best fielder award went to Deep Gaoner. Sourabh Rathod, Yug Gwalani, Nitant Gajbhiye, Jay Pacnhmatiya, Sahil Daga, Avesh Nimje, Sanskar Gaur, Adwait, Patil, Sachin Pal, Akshit Vaihare, Vedant Tumne, Sanskar and Anirudh More.
