Nagpur: The Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU), with much fanfare, installed CCTV cameras at its various departments and offices for effective surveillance. But surprisingly, the CCTV cameras themselves are not ‘watched’ by concerned authorities. Keeping in mind this ‘disturbing’ fact, the varsity administration has decided to start a centralised system for these CCTV cameras, according to media sources.
The RTMNU has installed CCTV cameras at main administrative premises, Examination Department, and in some departments at Campus for keeping a close eye round the clock on day to day activities. The varsity is mulling to install more cameras for safety and security purpose. Similarly, a centralised system will be in place soon. Approval for the project has been taken from university’s Information and Technology Board, sources said.
