Introduced by Indian Railways, ATVMs are touch-screen based ticketing kiosks designed to streamline the ticket purchasing process. These machines operate using Smart cards, which passengers can purchase and recharge at designated ticket counters. To use an ATVM, passengers simply place their Smart card on the designated slot, select their route and destination on the touch screen, and confirm the details to print their ticket. The ticket cost is automatically deducted from the Smart card balance. Additionally, passengers can also pay the ticket amount through UPI.

The introduction and widespread use of ATVMs align with Indian Railways’ commitment to enhancing passenger experience by leveraging technology. The ATVM system not only reduces the time passengers spend in queues but also ensures a seamless, user-friendly ticketing process.

Passengers are encouraged to make full use of the ATVMs to experience quick and hassle-free ticketing. For more information on how to use ATVMs or to purchase and recharge Smart cards, passengers can visit the nearest ticket counter.
