Nagpur: The Ambazari Police have filed charges against a Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) from the District Women and Child Development Department and several others for allegedly misappropriating funds and deceiving the Maharashtra Government of Rs 7.51 lakh by falsely categorizing Anganwadi Centers.
Acting on a complaint lodged by Vipul Mohanrao Jadhav (51), Deputy Chief Executing Officer (CEO) of the District Municipal Council, the Ambazari Police have registered cases against CDPO Ajwala Dhoke of Ambazari, as well as Shree Book Depot and General Stores in Yavatmal, and Rushali Emporium in Nagpur. The proprietors of Shambavi Education Ads are also implicated in the case. The accused face charges under Sections 406, 409, 420, 467, 471, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
According to police sources, the CDPO allegedly provided unauthorized advances to other accused parties and falsified bills, resulting in the misappropriation of Rs 7.51 lakh. This action defrauded the Maharashtra Government of the same amount. The irregularity was brought to light by Jadhav, who promptly reported it to the Ambazari Police.
Authorities are currently conducting a thorough investigation into the matter.
