CCTV footage leads to arrest of two serial burglars

Nagpur: CCTV footage led to the arrest of two serial burglars. The burglars had recently stolen gold ornaments and cash collectively worth Rs 19 lakhs from the house of a transport businessman in Hiwri Nagar, Nandanvan. With the arrest of the burglars, the Crime Branch claimed to have solved four house break-ins including one in Nagpur and three in Amravati.

The police have recovered valuables of over Rs 17.80 lakhs following their arrest.The accused have been identified as Harish Arun Charde (30) and Ravi Jugeshwar Sharma (35), both are residents of Nandanvan slums. Charde is a notorious burglar having several offences of thefts registered against him. He was staying at a rented accommodation at Katora village on the outskirts of Amravati. The two had stolen gold ornaments and cash collectively worth Rs 18 lakh from the house of Satyanarayan Darak (63), a resident of Hiwari Nagar when he had gone to Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh to visit a place of his relatives on December 11.

Darak is having a transport business, dairy farm and agriculture business on Amravati Road.

During investigation of the case, the Crime Branch analysed CCTV footage of the area and noticed suspicious movement of Charde in the area on the day of theft. The cops immediately identified his location and raided his house in Amravati. During interrogation, Charde spilled the beans and confessed to committing the theft with Sharma. The police then picked up Sharma from his home. Along with Nandanvan, the two had committed thefts at Gadge Nagar in Amravati and two places in Amravati rural.

The police have seized Rs 3.50 lakh cash, gold ornaments collectively worth Rs 12.16 lakhs, silver ornaments of Rs 15,490/-, a twowheeler, laptops and mobile phones from their possession.

Under the guidance of Addl CP (Crime) Sunil Phulari and DCP (Detection) Chinmay Pandit, the arrest was made by PI Vishwanath Chavan, APIs Mayur Chourasiya, Om Sontakke, Shankar Dhaygude, PSIs Atul Ingole, Balram Zadokar and staff including Baban Raut, Ravindra Panbude, Pravin Rode, Yuvanand Kadu, Ravi Ahir, Rahul Ingole, Mahesh Katole, Satish Thakre, Purushottam Kalmegh, Deepak Chole, Sachin Tumsare, Kunal Masram, Sagar Thakre, Sudhir Pawar, Narendra Bante and others.
