Cast vote, nurture democracy, says Abhishek Krishna

Nagpur News : It is very essential that every eligible citizen should cast its vote for nurturing democracy and for this wide education and awareness is being spread by agencies like Rotary, which is really commendable, thus said District Election Officer, Abhishek Krishna.

He was speaking at the public dedication of posters for spreading awareness about need for casting vote for democracy at Chhatrapati Shivaji Sabhagruha at Collectorate.

Dr Prafulla Mokadam, Rotary District 3030, former Governor was in the chair. Prominently present on the occasion were Information Director, Mohan Rathor, additional collector, and Ramtek election officer, Panjabrao Wankhede and district information officer, Anil Thakre.

Collector Krishna said that it is not enough to discuss this issue on TV or just watch it but every eligible citizen must go and cast its vote. There are various programmes for making people aware but people’s participation is must. Other social agencies in Nagpur should also work in this direction, he appealed.

Rotarian, Dr Prafulla Mokadam expressed regret that people enjoy holiday on voting day instead of going to cast vote. He said Rotary will make every effort to motivate people for voting and reaching out the programme to maximum number of people.

President of Rotary Club of Nagpur Elite, Avinash Pathak said for making people aware the club is going to display posters at 500 important places in Nagpur. Besides that 5,000 stickers will be displayed on the vehicles.

The prime message is ‘Sare Kam Chhod Do Sabse Pahle Vote Do’, leave aside all other jobs and cast your vote first. This message will be taken to people, he said.

The programme was conducted by secretary, Jayant Dixit, he also proposed a vote of thanks. On the occasion, Rotary office bearer, Ameen Hajiyanee, Nishant Birla, Ajay Upalanchiwar, Rajeev Wagh, Dhananjay Kondawar, Vinayak Deshpande, Suman Mangal, Vasanti Chafekar, Amit Vaidya and Mahipal Jain were present.
