Nagpur: The Standing Committee of Nagpur Municipal Corporation on Tuesday decided to rent out 697.335 sq mtr space in Narang Tower to National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for its Nagpur Division Office. For this NMC-owned space in Narang Tower in Civil Lines, the NHAI will give a monthly rent of Rs 3,06,581. The unanimous decision was taken at the meeting of Standing Committee held on Tuesday.

According to the decision, the NMC will make a rent agreement with NHAI for 11 months each for the next five years. The said space was handed over to NMC by Narang Tower builder in lieu of regularising the additional construction done in the building. The builder had built extra construction overlooking the sanctioned map. Subsequently, NMC had declared the additional construction illegal. Till now, the said space was occupied by NMC’s Town Planning Department but recently the department was shifted to New Administrative Building of NMC in Civil Lines. Currently, the Nagpur Division Office of NHAI is situated in Ramnagar. The NMC move comes after insistence of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, it is learnt. Even otherwise, the decision will help the cash-strapped local body.

The contract for supply of sweaters will be given to 9 vendors including Manohar Sakode and Brothers, Swadeshi Woolen Mills, and Damodar Toshniwal on ‘L1’ rate.
