
Nagpur: The Nagpur Police have registered a criminal case against three separate Instagram accounts for allegedly circulating objectionable and misleading videos aimed at tarnishing the image of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.
According to preliminary information, the concerned social media handles created and shared reels containing incorrect and misleading content about the senior BJP leader. After the matter came to light, a complaint was lodged at the Nagpur Cyber Police Station.
A case has been registered under relevant provisions of the Information Technology Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Special Cyber Teams Begin Investigation
Two dedicated teams from the cyber department have been assigned to conduct a detailed investigation. The focus remains on identifying the individuals operating the Instagram accounts, collecting digital evidence, and carrying out technical analysis to trace the origin and dissemination of the content.
The investigation is being carried out under the guidance of Police Commissioner Ravinder Singal, Joint Commissioner Reddy, and Deputy Commissioner of Police Lohit Matani, officials confirmed.
Warning Against Spreading Unverified Information
Police have issued a stern warning that strict action will be taken against those found spreading unverified or defamatory information on social media platforms. Citizens have been urged to verify the authenticity of content before sharing it online.
