Nagpur: A husband-wife duo, who was sleeping on footpath near Yeshwant Stadium was run over by a rashly driven car on Saturday (October 29) night. The bizarre mishap left the woman dead and her husband critically injured. He has been admitted in GMCH where he is reportedly battling for life. Dhantoli police have booked the driver of the car who is owner of a showroom situated at Yeshwant Stadium.
The deceased has been identified as Shanka Kalambe (26) and her injured husband is Rupesh Kalambe (35), residents of Vakilpeth, Reshimbagh. The couple was sleeping on footpath near Yeshwant Stadium on Saturday night. At the same time, a black-coloured car driven recklessly reportedly by Jeevan Seth, owner of Fair Deal Showroom, ploughed into the sleeping husband-wife duo. Both were rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital where Shanka succumbed to her injuries during treatment. Rupesh has been admitted and reportedly battling for life. After the fatal mishap, the accused driver of the killer vehicle Jeevan Seth fled the spot.
Dhantoli cops have registered a case and searching the absconding accused.
