Car driver burgles Rs 1.10 lakh from house of Vadattiwar’s kin in Ramdaspeth

Nagpur: A car driver burgled Rs 1.10 lakh cash from the house of a relative of former Congress Minister Vijay Vadattiwar in Ramdaspeth. The accused has been arrested.

The former Minister’s sprawling house ‘Kamalatai Nivas’ is situated at Plot No. 5/6, Ramdaspeth. His nephew, Shiv Sanjay Vadattiwar (20) also stays in the same house. In his complaint to police, Shiv said that his sister Shivani Vadattiwar had kept Rs 2 lakh cash in the locker of her room. The accused Rahul Gangadhar Thakre (26), native of Sonpuri, Tehsil Umred, worked as car driver. Rahul was staying in servant’s quarter in Vadattiwar’s residence.

Sometime before June 13, the accused Rahul entered Shivani’s room and stole Rs 70,000 out of Rs 2 lakh. When Shivani came to know about the theft, she enquired about it with the accused. Initially, Rahul feigned ignorance but when Sitabuldi police interrogated him, he admitted that he had stolen Rs 40,000 earlier also apart from Rs 70,000.

Sitabuldi police booked the accused Rahul Thakre under Section 381 of the IPC and arrested him.
