Candle march organised to get justice for deceased contractor

Nagpur: Anand Ramesh Bavaria, a contractor of the government telecom company fed up by the delay in the payment of outstanding bill, committed suicide. In connection with this incident on Wednesday, the contractors associated with BSNL and the family of Anand took out a candle march and demanded the culprits be punished. The candle march started from Samvidhan Chowk to BSNL office demanding justice for Anand Bavaria. Anand’s elder brother Amit Bavaria, who was in the March, blamed the BSNL officials for Anand’s death. According to Amit, before writing the suicide note a suicide, Anand had made a video message in which he took the name of those who were responsible for his death. Police have shown their inability to arrest the accused persons despite they having suicide note and Anand’s mobile .

The Bavaria family from the Bajraria area of ​​the city had started the Telephone Fiber Line Supply business since 2010. The Bavaria family into the business of through Anand Infratech Private Limited Company. In the year 2014, the company got the contract of optical cable line from the Nagpur office of BSNL. The BSNL gave the company the orders to stop the work


According to the rule, after the 20% work of the contract it is necessary to pay the bill, the BSNL officials were delaying payment of the deposits by the company. In 2015, Anand deposited a bill of Rs 90 lakh in BSNL for payment. Those people who worked for Anand were pressing him for their payments. Due to this he was undergoing heavy mental stress. Before committing suicide, Anand was in Nagpur for a month, during this time, he was continuously meeting the authorities. But when he found that he was unable to get the money, he committed suicide outside the BSNL office on Friday night at around 3:30 am, it is alleged.

He did not get the payment but he allegedly fulfilled the demands of the officials.

Amit alleged that no work is done in the government department without greasing palms of the officials and this was experienced by Anand too. Anand paid money to the officials from his pocket so that the work goes on smoothly and there is no hurdle in getting the payment but was cheated by the people who took bribe, it is alleged. Anand did not commit suicide, it is a murder committed by a government machinery and so should be punished, Amit said.


Case registered against five officials but no arrests made yet
On the complaint of Anand’s brother Amit, a case was registered against, BSNL’s GM Namrata Tiwari, Divisional Engineer D P Wasanik, Telecom Engineer Amit Kumar Thote, the Head of Department of Optical Fiber Cable, D Gode, and Brijesh Tripathi.

A has been registered but none of them have been arrested so far. Anand has also mentioned the names of the guilty in his video message.
