Nagpur: In a significant statement, the City BJP President Sudhakar Kohale on Friday said that candidature of those aspiring candidates who are facing criminal cases will not be rejected unless the charges against them are proved. The BJP commenced the process of interviews for candidates aspiring to contest the next NMC election. MLC Anil Sole is the chief of the interview committee.
The party said that around 20 candidates have applied for one seat in each Prabhag. Kohale said justice will be done to the deserving candidates. The interview process will end on January 14.
The party is conducting survey for selection of deserving candidates. After the survey, consultations will be held with citizens for their choice of candidates.
Punekar’s resignation:
The City BJP President Sudhakar Kohale, reacting to party Corporator Ramesh Punekar joining Congress, said that Punekar sent his resignation on Whatsapp. “Punekar was provided the maximum funds by Mayor Pravin Datke for carrying out development works in his Prabhag. But the Corporator failed to utilize the funds. Punekar was planning to quit BJP since long and was hobnobbing with Congress leaders for his personal gains. His joining Congress will have no impact on the prospects of BJP in the next NMC poll,” Kohale said.
