Nagpur Twins Electric shock
Nagpur: Facing the heat for not initiating action in the tragic electrocution of twins Priyansh and Piyush Dhar, Jaripatka police have finally booked a builder and an official of NMC’s Town Planning Department on charges of criminal negligence causing death of the two siblings.

The tragedy took place on May 31 in which 11-year old twins Priyansh and Piyush Dhar got electrocuted and severely burned after coming in contact with a 33 KV high-tension wire that was passing above their aunt’s residence in Sugat Nagar. While Priyansh succumbed to severe burns on June 9 after fighting for life for 10 days, Piyush breathed his last on June 19.

However, Jaripatka cops under whose jurisdiction the heart-wrenching tragedy occurred took the matter in utter disdain. The grief-stricken father of the twins Sanjay Dhar had lamented that even when Piyush was very critical after Priyansh’s death, he was making rounds of Jaripatka police station and demanding filing of FIR in the case. “We kept taking follow-up from police but we could never understand why FIR was not being registered. We also submitted a memorandum to Police Commissioner but got no response,” the family said. Though legal experts had stressed that immediate FIR should have been registered at least against the builder, cops didn’t do so even after Priyansh’s death.

But now, after taking severe beating for inaction, Jaripatka police woke up from the deep slumber and have booked the builder Anand Narayanrao Khobragade (46), resident of Plot No. 590, Naya Nakasha, near Sankalp School and an unidentified official of NMC’s Town Planning Department on the charges of criminal negligence causing the tragic death of twins Priyansh and Piyush Dhar. The builder Khobragade had constructed the house where tragedy occurred right beneath the high tension wire in Armors Township, Sugat Nagar. The Town Planning official had permitted the construction of the house despite knowing the fact that the high tension wire posed deadly hazard. The house was sold to the aunt of the deceased Priyansh and Piyush Dhar. The twins had come to their aunt’s house and were playing when the tragedy struck.
