British High Commissioner meets NVCC Chief

James David Bevan, British High Commissioner visited Nagpur to witness the Lok Sabha election. After arriving on Thursday morning, the British envoy met political leaders from Congress & BJP and also visited few polling booths.

Later he had an interactive session with Dipen Agrawal, President, NVCC Nagpur. At this meeting, Dipen Agarwal informed James of the various activities undertaken by the Chamber in the interest of trade, commerce & Industry in Vidarbha. He also mentioned that the Chamber has been undertaking these activities for the past 7 decades.

Dipen Agrawal further said that Vidarbha region has immense opportunities for British Companies as it is immensely rich in minerals, dense forests, tourist places with a focus on wildlife sanctuaries, vast scope for IT sector, Industrial infrastructure, MIHAN-SEZ, uninterrupted power supply, ample water and land. He also said that Vidarbha is known as cotton bowl of India and Textiles could be a key investment sector.

Dipen Agrawal also raised the problems being faced by Indians during issuance of Visa. James David however, assured him there would not be any problem for issue of Visa to Indians and presently 9 applications out of 10 are being granted visa.

He further extended invitation to NVCC Members to visit Scotland, UK for Commonwealth Games in November.

While appreciating the democracy of India and voting pattern he informed those present that in the near future Scotland is preparing for a referendum vote on being an Independent Country or being part of UK. This vote is supported by UK Government as it is the policy of the UK Government to strengthen democracy.

He assured everyone that his office along with NVCC would work together for further strengthening Bilateral Trade between the two countries.
