Nagpur: In a damning revelation, former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh claimed that BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis pressured him through police to implicate Uddhav Thackeray Government in the Parambir Singh episode.

Anil Deshmukh, leader of Sharad Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party, in conversation with Arfa Khanun Sherwani, the Senior Editor of the The Wire, revealed an incident that occurred before the fall of the Thackeray Government. Deshmukh made a sensational claim while exposing Devendra Fadnavis, stating that Parambir Singh was the mastermind behind the case of placing explosives outside Ambani’s house.

“While the Enforcement Directorate (ED) action was ongoing against me, Devendra Fadnavis sent a person to negotiate with me. I was told to give an affidavit, and I wouldn’t face any trouble from the ED. However, I did not comply. That affidavit contained allegations against Uddhav Thackeray and Sharad Pawar,” Deshmukh said.

Deshmukh gave details about an alleged nexus between Mumbai Police and the BJP leaders.

The former Maharashtra Home Minister also demanded the resignation of Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis — who also holds the Home portfolio — over the Porsche car accident in Pune that claimed the lives of two techies last Sunday.

In a post on X, Deshmukh slammed Fadnavis for “giving preferential treatment to the accused.” The Katol MLA also accused the Deputy CM of ensuring the juvenile accused was fed pizza and burger after he was detained.

To support his allegation, Deshmukh said the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) released the accused within 10 hours. “Two youths from poor families were mowed down by a vehicle driven by the son of a rich father. If this was not enough, he was granted bail within hours, that too on a Sunday. Why should we not demand your resignation?” Deshmukh questioned Fadnavis.
