BJP retains power in Gondia Nagar Parishad

Gondia/Nagpur: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) retained power in Gondia Nagar Parishad by winning the post of President. Party’s Ashok Ingle romped home by over 5000 votes. The outgoing President Kashish Jaiswal also belonged to BJP.

In the 42-member Gondia Nagar Parishad, BJP bagged 18 seats while Congress won 9 seats. NCP had to be content with 7 seats. BSP with five and Shiv Sena 2 were the other winners. Gondia is considered stronghold of senior NCP leader Praful Patel. But the leader is tasting defeats one after another. First Lok Sabha, then Assembly and now Nagar Parishad election. The party had to be content with number three position in the civic polls.
