Nagpur: A shocking incident has emerged from Nagpur ahead of the municipal polls, raising serious concerns over election-related violence. BJP candidate Bhushan Shingne was allegedly attacked in a life-threatening assault late on the night preceding the day of voting.
Bhushan Shingne is contesting the Nagpur Municipal Corporation election from Ward No. 11 on a BJP ticket. According to preliminary information, the attack occurred around midnight when Shingne had gone to the Gorewada area to meet a party worker. He was allegedly assaulted by individuals linked to a rival candidate.
Following the attack, Shingne sustained injuries and was immediately rushed to Mayo Hospital in Nagpur, where he is currently undergoing treatment. His condition is being monitored, though no official medical bulletin has been issued so far.
A complaint has been registered at Gittikhadan Police Station, and the police have launched an investigation into the incident. CCTV footage, witness statements, and other evidence are being examined. The incident, occurring just hours before polling was set to begin, has triggered political tension in the city and sparked sharp reactions across party lines.
