Nagpur: In a bizarre incident, a couple and one other woman negotiated a ‘deal’ with a pregnant woman and ‘puchased’ her new born baby girl for Rs 50,000. The accused couple reportedly took away the new born baby forcibly. It could be the first of its kind incident in which a ‘deal’ was negotiated with a surrogate mother.
According to police sources, the complainant Mona Avinash Barsagde (26), resident of Vaibhav Nagar, near Vyenkatesh Gym, Wadi, was pregnant. As the accused couple namely Manish Surajratan Mundada (36), Harsha Manish Mundada (32), both residents of Senapati Nagar, Dighori, and one other woman named Bharti, came to know about Mona’s preganancy, they approached her with a plan. The accused negotiated a ‘deal’ with Mona to ‘purchase’ her new born baby irrespective of gender for Rs 50,000. As a baby girl was born, accused couple and the woman took away the infant around 11 am on Sunday, December 3, forcibly. However, another report says that Mona refused to hand over the new born baby despite immense pressure and lure of Rs 50,000 by the accused.
Dhantoli API Aale, on the basis of a complaint lodged by Mona Barsagde, booked the accused Mundada couple and Bharti under Sections 506, 370, 34 of the IPC read with Sub-Section 81 of Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act. Further probe is underway.
