Nagpur: The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), the national standards body established in 1947 as the Indian Standards Institution (ISI), continues to play a vital role in ensuring quality, safety, and reliability of products across India through its certification, conformity assessment, laboratory services, and hallmarking schemes.

Widely recognised by consumers, the ISI Mark serves as a symbol of quality assurance, while BIS’s Hallmarking Scheme ensures the purity of gold jewellery. In an effort to inculcate a culture of quality among students, BIS has also established over 10,000 Standards Clubs in educational institutions across the country.
