Nagpur: The city reverberated with roars of bikes as ‘Biking Queens’, a 50-member all-women biker group from Gujarat, drove to the city. The biking daredevils, who hail from Gujarat, are on a ten thousand kilometers long trip from Gujarat to Khardung-La, Ladakh. The rally has been started with an initiative to promote ‘Sashakta Naari, Sashakta Bharat’ Campaign.

The dauntless women were welcomed to the city by students of Shree Convent and High School and male bikers. Passing from fifteen different states, the group will be hoisting National Flag on World’s Highest Vehicle Pass, Khardung-La, on Independence Day.

The team is also to visit Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu, Chandigarh, Rajasthan and New Delhi to raise awareness about the campaign. On their visit, they will distribute Educational kits for children and Hygiene kits for women.

“We are travelling for passion as well as social issues. The women in our country are often conscious about their unique talents. With this trip, we are trying to aware women about their rights. We also want them to be self confident and follow their passion”, said Dr. Sarika Mehta, Founder, Biking Queens. “We also want women to know various entrepreneurship skills which they can start. While returning, we will be meeting Prime Minister in New Delhi”, she added.

The group plans to talk to villagers in every state and spread the word of women empowerment and pass on the message of ‘Sashakt Nari, Sashakt Bharat.’ ‘Biking Queens’ was founded in 2015 by Dr. Sarika Mehta, a psychologist by profession. Their motto is to keep working towards the welfare of the society through their passion for riding.
