Nagpur: The district administration has on Wednesday sealed the office of Bharat Cable Network (BCN), a cable service provider in Nagpur, for non-payment of entertainment tax even as the financial year draws towards an end.
It may be mentioned that the district administration has launched a recovery drive against the tax defaulters. On Wednesday, the officials reached the BCN’s office and sealed the premises.
Sources said BCN has not paid entertainment tax since 2013, which runs into crores. Informed sources pegged the amount at Rs 4.36 crore.
Tehsildar Priyadarshini Borkar informed that notices were also served to BCN on several occasions but to no avail.
The Entertainment Tax Department has informed the revenue department about confiscating BCN’s property as the tax was being deliberately delayed.
