Nagpur: Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule has directed the authorities of Zilla Parishad and Public Works Department to immediately demolish a school building illegally constructed on government land in Kamptee. Previously, a school on grant basis was functioning from the place but now a 4-storey convent is being run by an influential local leader. The local leader grabbed the land years ago with money and muscle power. The land belonged to Zilla Parishad’s Public Works Department. When the matter came to notice of Bawankule, he ordered the demolition of the illegally constructed school building.

According the Guardian Minister, the illegally constructed building is occupying the government land since the past 12 years. When the matter was brought to his notice, he immediately asked the ZP CEO Kadambari Balkawde to investigate the matter. The probe revealed that the land has been grabbed by the local leader. Subsequently, Bawankule ordered demolition of the school building.

The illegally constructed school building reportedly belonged to a former legislator. Out of the 7150 sq ft land, construction has been done on 6030 sq ft area. The land has been acquired in the name of Gramin Bahuuddeshiya Society and the tax is also being paid lawfully. The Guardian Minister on the other hand says that the Society was served notices 10 times to vacate the land.

When the CEO was asked to comment on the matter, she said that the Kamptee BDO has been asked to come out with clarification over the tax related matter. The land belongs to Zilla Parishad, Public Works Department and Nagar Parishad. “Appropriate action will be initiated in the matter,” the CEO said.
