Nagpur: The Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule on Wednesday directed the MIHAN authorities to build houses at its vacant land in Khapri and hand over the house to MHADA for allotment to MIHAN project affected people as rehabilitation package.

A meeting in this regard was held at Mantralaya in Mumbai. The meeting was attended by MADC’s Valsa Nair, Principal Secretary Kakani, and MHADA officials. Out of 16 hectare land in Khapri, MHADA received six hectare land. In the remaining 10 hectare land, MADC should build tenements and hand over them to MHADA. The persons displaced by the MIHAN project will get houses and plots of same size that they currently owned, Bawankule said.

Currently, MIHAN is in possession of 224 villages and 100 plots of MHADA. At these places, MIHAN should develop and construct houses on the lines of MHADA and then hand over these houses to MHADA.

In turn, MHADA should distribute these houses to the families displaced by the MIHAN project. For distribution of plots, carve out layouts at the vacant places. The housing tenements will have high income group, low income group and middle income group persons, Bawankule said.
