Batch of 2000 wins SFS OBA Cricket Trophy

SFS OBA Cricket 2016Nagpur: For the first time in Central India such a tournament was organised by SFS School Old Boys’ Association (OBA) at SFS School, Sadar wherein 20 teams from its batches representing from 1978 to 2015 participated, totaling ex students of around 320 in numbers, which generated lot of enthusiasm and joy amongst the ex students.

This tournament was organised & coordinated by SFS OBA Cricket Tournament Committee members Dr. Manohar Roy, Dinesh Naidu, Naren Mukherjee, CA Dhiraj Moryani, Ajay Gajbhiye and Deepak Gulhane. With large participations received, 5 groups were formed, which followed by pre quarter finals, quarter finals, semi finals and finals was played between Batch of 1991 versus Batch of 2000.

After winning the toss captain of 1991 Manish Batra selected to bat first, however loosing early wickets they could score 66 runs, which 2000 batch managed in second last over of the innings. The winning team members of 2000 Batch were Gladwin Alfanso (Captain), Ritesh Paul, Emmanuel Kale, Kunal Kota, Francis Krayal, Ronald Thomas, Ivan Anthony, Rahul Kota, Morris Francis, Nishank Modi and Merwyn Baghel. Umpires who conducted these tournament matches were Sandeep Pathak, Santosh Jaswani, Rama Rao and his team.

Manish Chawhan of 1991 batch was declared Man of the Series; Best Batsman was awarded to Yunus Hussain from 1996 Batch and Best Bowler awarded to Amir Siddique from 1991 batch.

The event was also graced by Vicar General Father Jerome Pinto also alumni of SFS school of 1962 batch, Ex Teachers of the school Rene D’Morias, Anju Baiden, Vikas Francis, Ashutosh Gadgil and Iris Vasu.

Narinder Singh Kohli – OBA president, Tejinder Singh Renu – vice president and Father Jerome Pinto addressed the gathering. Vote of thanks was expressed by Dr. Manohar Roy – secretary. Also prominently present from OBA were Devanshu Patel – treasurer, Dr. Sanjay Raghatate, Razmin Chinoy, Jaspal Arora, Faiz Wahid, Hasnain Shakir, Neville Cassad, Dr. Sameet Pathak, Dr. Shiraz Khan, and others.
