Nagpur: In a startling turn of events, Nilesh Kadwe, a notorious criminal previously apprehended for counterfeit currency offenses, has left police in Nagpur astounded with his latest revelation. Kadwe (27), offered to demonstrate the intricate process of fabricating fake registration smart cards (RC) for vehicles during his interrogation following his recent arrest for involvement in a string of bike thefts.

During questioning, Kadwe confessed to obtaining specialized printable cards embedded with chips from an undisclosed online source. He outlined his modus operandi, explaining that he utilized a mobile application to generate the contents of the RC smart card. Subsequently, he would meticulously print the forged RCs at his hideout located in North Nagpur.

Kadwe’s criminal activities came to light when authorities discovered a cache of 12 counterfeit RC smart cards in his possession. It was revealed that he exploited these falsified documents to misrepresent stolen motorcycles as legitimate second-hand vehicles, thereby eluding suspicion during transactions. Police have seized seven stolen bikes from Kadwe’s possession thus far.

This revelation has not only shed light on Kadwe’s sophisticated criminal network but also underscores the alarming rise in fraudulent activities within the realm of vehicle documentation. Authorities are now investigating the extent of Kadwe’s illicit operations and are urging vigilance among citizens to combat such fraudulent practices.

The Tehsil police team led by Senior Inspector Sandeep Buwa and Inspector Prakash Raut comprising APIs Raju Raut and Shashikant Musale, Assistant Sub-Inspector Rajesh Thakur, head constable Sanjay Sahu, Sandeep Gawali, Ramkailash Yadav and others managed to trap Kadwe from an auto dealer’s shop, where he had come to strike a deal to sell a stolen bike.

Kadwe had been arrested in 2021 for preparing and circulating fake note currency. After being released from jail, Kadwe had joined a private company to leave a life of crime, but he soon got addicted to MD narcotics. He had started preparing fake RC smart cards for bike thieves. Soon, he started stealing two-wheelers on his own and selling them as genuine ones with fake RC cards for more money.

Recently, one of Kadwe’s videos injecting MD had gone viral, and the city police top brass had ordered his arrest. The Crime Branch had almost nabbed him at Kapil Nagar but he managed to flee. His aides were sent to jail.

Kadwe’s close aide, Harsh, is yet to be nabbed after he managed to flee when cops were trying to nab them both. Police said Kadwe and his aides would roam the city, especially the parking slots or such places where they can find maximum two-wheelers at the same place. Police said Kadwe and his aides had stolen bikes from Jaripatka, Kapil Nagar, Tehsil and also other places.
