Bacchu Kadu Begins Vacating Protest Site After Defying Court Deadline; Heavy Police Presence in Nagpur

Nagpur: After hours of defiance and high drama, Prahar Janshakti Party leader and MLA Bacchu Kadu has finally begun vacating the protest site in Nagpur late Tuesday evening. This comes after the Bombay High Court’s Nagpur Bench directed him and his supporters to clear the area by 6 pm, following a suo motu intervention over the inconvenience caused to the public.

Speaking to Nagpur Today, Commissioner of Police Ravinder Singal confirmed that the process of vacating the site has started. “They are vacating now. Let me see, it will take time,” he said, indicating that the situation remains under close watch.

Earlier in the day, Kadu had defiantly declared that he would not step back until the farmers’ demands for a complete loan waiver were fulfilled. “Put me in jail if you want, but I will not move until our demands are met. We are fighting for the farmers, but the government is trying to suppress us,” he said during his fiery address.

In a heated outburst, Kadu even lashed out saying, “You people are cowards, hiding behind the court — spineless!” and warned, “The jails will fall short; we are ready to be arrested. We will even take control of Ramgiri if needed.”

As the night progressed, police officers handed over a copy of the court order to Kadu and his team, following which discussions were held and the protestors eventually agreed to withdraw. The area remains heavily guarded with police deployment to prevent any untoward incident.

The two-day protest had drawn significant attention, with hundreds of farmers and locals gathering at the site. As of now, the atmosphere is gradually easing, though a close watch is being maintained by the authorities.
