Nagpur: With elections of Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) months away, draft of Ward Pattern has not been approved yet and recently, the Supreme Court has stayed the OBC Reservation in local self governing bodies, these factors have raised the eyebrows of political pundits on where we are staring at possibility of Municipal Election push back?

Though OBC Reservation has been stayed by the SC, political parties including BJP, Congres, NCP and Shiv Sena want to contest on OBC reservation.

The draw for reserved seats for men and women was held for the 2017 election up to October 2016. Later, the ward pattern was finalized. However, this year, the process is being held after a delay of one and half months. This process will be delayed if the Election Commission does not pace up.

Apart from that, various political parties have demanded postponing of elections of local self governing bodies as the SC has stayed to OBC Reservation. It is now being speculated that the elections set to be held in February and March might be postponed to May next year. Though, no decision has been taken in this regard yet.
