After exploring various aspects of the human condition through films like ‘Cheeni Kum’, ‘Paa’, ‘Shamitabh’ and, more recently,’Ki And Ka’, ad man turned-filmmaker R Balki has written another slice of-life film which will kick off next year. And leading the acting line-up is Akshay Kumar who is teaming up with the filmmaker for the first time.
The film will also mark Akki’s reunion with Amitabh Bachchan, a Balki film regular, ten years after the duo shared screen space in Rajkumar Santoshi’s Family: Ties of Blood. Prior to that, the Big B had played Akshay’s father in Vipul Shah’s 2005 family drama Waqt: Race Against Time and fellow cop a year before that in Madhur Bhandarkar’s crime-drama Aan: Men At Work.
Last month, Balki met Akshay for a narration and the 49-year-old actor was delighted to learn that he was the filmmaker’s first choice for the role. Balki, a self confessed superfan of Big B who has famously vowed to never make a film without him started working on two scripts after Ki And Ka released, starting out by developing Bachchan’s character.
Planning to kick off his next only after the release of wife Gauri Shinde’s Dear Zindagi, Balki has decided to roll with the one featuring Akshay in 2017.
