Nagpur: In a fantastic news, Nagpur has again topped the chart of Smart City ranking. The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs announced the ranking of Smart Cities in India on Friday. Nagpur scored 367.42 points while Ahmedabad was adjudged second. In February, Ahmedabad had superseded Nagpur and bagged the first position. However, after healthy competition Nagpur has regained its top rank.
Delighted by the amazing feat, Nagpur Municipal Corporation and its Smart City special purpose vehicle — Nagpur Smart and Sustainable City Development Corporation (NSSCDCL) — expressed confidence of maintaining the top position if future also.
Earlier, Nagpur made it to the numero uno spot in the second year of the release of such list. In the first year, the city did not even make it to the top 20. But with rigorous and collective efforts, it rose up straight to the first spot in the next year.
The city has dominated the first position since May 2018, excluding one week. During this one week, it was Bhopal who was leading the list. At present, it’s at the second spot. The rest of the 98 cities are way behind Nagpur.
Other cities of Maharashtra that feature in the chart are Amravati on rank 10, Pune 11, Pimpri Chanchwad 19 and Nashik 23.
