All India FIDE rating chess tournament from June 16

Nagpur: Parents Chess Academy, Nagpur is organising GH Raisoni Memorial All India Open FIDE Rating Chess Tournament between June 16 and 20. under the aegis of Nagpur District Chess Association (NDCA).

The tournament is recognised by Maharashtra Chess Association (MCA) and All India Chess Federation. The tourney will see players participating in Under-7, Under-9, Under-11 and Under-13 categories. This information was given to journalists during a press conference at Dr Ambedkar Sports Academy hall on Tuesday.

While addressing the press conference vice-principal of Dr. Ambedkar College AP Joshi said, “The total prize money of the tournament will be Rs 2 lakh. Raisoni group has extended financial support to the tournament while Dr. Ambedkar will provide their auditorium for the organisation of the tournament.”

All the technical parameters and assistance will be looked after by NDCA. The tourney will be open for participants from all parts of India. The prominent players like International Master Krishna CRG, FM Saurabh Kherdekar, Dilip Pagay, Aakash Thakur and Gurupreet Maras have tentatively confirmed their entries.

President of PCA Abhay Shrivastava was confident of more entries from international masters and FMs from across the countries. He said, “We are expecting more entries from top players from the countries. Basically, the motive of conducting this tournament is to give better opportunities for promising player.”

“This year we have started a bus service for participants. The bus will pick players from MLA hostel in Civil Lines and drop them at the venue for matches,” he added.

The total prize money will be distributed among top 21 players with 41,000, Rs 31,000, 21,000, 11,000 being first, second, third and fourth prizes and least being 2000 for the 21st player on the list.

AICF and MCA registration will be compulsory for all the players for the year 2015-16, For unregistered players AICF and MCA registration facility will be available at the venue on payment of 250 and Rs 150 respectively.

Players are required to bring two passport size photos and birth certificate for registration if not registered.

Late entries will be accepted between June 11 and June 15 with the payment of 300.
