Nagpur:
In an “uncommon” incident, a chain-snatcher was chased and caught by people when the ruffian robbed a woman of her gold chain in Jaripatka area here on Friday night. However, two of his accomplices managed to escape.

The complainant Anju Rajesh Agrawal (40), resident of Deepak Nagar, was standing near Shanti Medical Stores, Gurunanak Pharmacy College in Jaripatka area around 8.30 pm on Friday. At the same time, the three goons accosted her and one of them snatched a gold chain Anju was wearing around her neck and started fleeing the spot.

However, Anju sensed something wrong within seconds and raised an alarm. Her shouts alerted the nearby people and they started a hot pursuit of the three chain-snatchers. The chase ended in nabbing one of the goons who has been identified as Mohd Tanvir Mohd Iqbal Ansari (25), resident of Ajri Majri, Yashodhanagar. However, two other accomplices of Mohd Tanvir managed to dodge the chasing people and escaped. The caught chain-snatcher was bashed up severely and later handed over to police.

Jaripatka PSI Khedekar has booked the three miscreants under Sections 393, 34 of the IPC and placed Mohd Tanvir under arrest. Two other goons are being searched and likely to be apprehended soon.
