The Congress party under its leader Rahul Gandhi has quite lost the theme it seems. After Goa, it is Manipur now. After the BJP on Monday announced the name of Nongthombam Biren as its chief ministerial pick for the state of Manipur and submitted claim to Governor Najma Heptullah she has invited Biren to take oath and form govt.

“BJP’s legislature party leader will be N Biren Singh; we will soon move to stake claim to form the government, Union minister Piyush Goel had told news agencies yesterday.

Biren Singh, who was with Congress till last year said
“I left the Congress party because of its mis- governance,” Biren Singh told media after meeting the Governor.

“I assure you that BJP will surely provide good governance,” he added.

A national football player-turned journalist-turned-politician, 56-year-old Nongthmobam Biren Singh was chief minister Okram Ibobi Singh ‘s most trusted lieutenant before he parted ways with Congress to join BJP last year.
He won from Heingang defeating Trinamool Congress’ Pangeijam Saratchandra Singh.
