Actor Anupam Kher conferred with ‘Honoured Guest of Texas State’ award

Bollywood star Anupam Kher has been conferred with ‘Honored Guest of Texas’ award for his contribution to cinema and the world of art. The award was conferred on 60-year old thespian at the hands of Hueston Dy Mayor Ed Gonzalez on behalf of Texas State Governor Greg Abbot on Sept 7, 2015, reported the media sources.

It may be mentioned that Anupam Kher was honoured with Senate Proclamation award by The Texas State Senate a couple of days ago.
In the document released, Ed Gonzalez said, “Anupam Kher is an honoured guest of Lone Star State. I welcome him during to his tour to this rich land of diversities.”

It may be mentioned that Anupam Kher’s play Mera Matalab Vo Nahi Tha  (My intention was not that) gathered immense popularity in Hueston and 15 other cities of America, as a result of which, various awards and praises were showered upon him for his contribution to the cinema and the world of art.

Expressing his gratitude, Kher said, “It is all grace of God, for He is merciful. I am feeling proud of being an Indian actor and receiving the honour. America has been very kind to me and my work. My felicitation here reminds me of the duty which my motherland had assigned to me and which I have done here.”  He concluded his address by shouting Jai Ho.

After staging the Anupam Kher and Neena Gupta enacted play in Hueston on August 7, it has been continuously gathering immense popularity in American cities, Toronto and Vancouver (Canada). This play was presented twice in Hueston on public demand, with selling of all tickets and obtaining success.

Hueston Mayor Anice Parker praised Kher and Neena Gupta for providing good public entertainment and their artistic commitment. He announced ‘August 7’ as Anupam Kher Day in Hueston.

As a result of his success, Kher has been appointed UN ambassador for popularizing sexual equality.
