NMC teachers, staff to get transport allowance as per state govt scale

Recently the Maharashtra Govt has sanctioned rise in transport allowance to all its eligible employees as per the recommendations of sixth pay commission.

As Local Body Tax has been made applicable, it has led to reduction in revenue of NMC. Even on this background, Nagpur Municipal Corporation has sanctioned this rise in pay of teachers and other employees as per govt scales. It will be May 2014 paid in June 2014; the arrears of this allowance will also be paid to the staff.

NMC teachers delegation called on additional commissioner, and welcomed this move of paying transport allowance as per state govt scale. The delegation also submitted a memorandum for granting them dearness allowance of 10% as per state govt scale. Additional commissioner, Hemantkumar Pawar gave an assurance to the delegation that a positive decision in this regard will be made soon.

Through this press note, NMC Teachers’ Association has publicly expressed its appreciation and gratitude towards mayor, commissioner and additional commissioner for Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s move of giving transport allowance as per state govt scale to its employees, in spite of fall in its revenue due to application of Local Body Tax.

The delegation consisted of Teachers’ Association chairman, Rajesh Gawre, chief secretary, Devrao Mandavkar, women cell chief, Malvinderkaur Lamba, Parveen Sidiquee, member, Sudhakar Gudadhe, Rajesh Dumplawar, Narendra Barai, secretary, Deepak Gaikwad and treasurer, Shekhar Wanaskar.
