Talking to Lokmat Times on Tuesday, Nikam said, “Yes I am pained. Someone’s opposing my appointment as SPP is not the point. The point is that those who feel that I will not be able to do justice with the case, should seek assistance of someone they feel could get them justice. But they should not put forth flimsy reasons and question my integrity.”
It may be mentioned here that the female foeticide in Beed district rocked the country recently. Various social organisations in the country demanded severe action against the accused Dr Sudam Munde and his wife Saraswati Munde.
Following this, the home minister R RPatil recently announced in the house that (Ujjwal) Nikam has been appointed SPP in the case.
After this announcement, Advocate Varsha Patil alleged at a press conference at Satara recently that Nikam would not be able to do justice in the case.
Hurt over this, Nikam refused to represent the state in the case as SPP.
But now, the State government is trying to convince Nikam into not leaving the case. Even the home minister and some ministers and officials are trying to convince Nikam to represent the state in the case.
