Nagpur News : Yashodhara Nagar police booked a couple for provoking a young married woman to end her life.
A 26-year-old married woman Fatma Mohammad Sabir Alam had committed suicide by hanging self with the help of a dupatta from the ceiling of her house at Vandevi Nagar slums. Yashodhara Nagar police reached there after being informed by her husband Mohd Sabir Alam (27).
During investigations, it was learnt that Mohammad Siraj Sheikh (39) and Rasiya Begam Mohammad Siraj Sheikh had worked as the mediators in arranging Fatma and Sabir’s maariage. The newly wed couple lived in the rented accommodation at Siraj Sheikh’s house. Soon after their marriage, Sriaj and Rasiya Begum started demanding Rs 10,000 for arranging their marriage. They also demanded Rs 8,000 that they spend during Fatma’s marriage.
Rasiya and Siraj started abusing Fatma and threatened that they would not let them leave the house until they pay them Rs 18,000. Frustrated with the continuous mental and physical torture by Rsaiya and Siraj, Fatma ended her life on December 15 this year.
Cops have booked Siraj and Rasiya on the complaint of Fatma’s mother Shahja Parveen Sheikh Shareef. Cops have slapped charges under Sections 306 and 34 of the IPC against Siraj and Rasiya.
