Nagpur News: The diver Jagdish Khare, is now-a-days a name in almost every mouth or ear of Nagpur citizens. The Limca Book Record holder Jagdish Khare is a “Renowned” personality of Nagpur. Notwithstanding the reasons for which he is famous — Retrieving or pulling out bodies from Gandhisagar Lake (Shukrawar Talao) of those persons who committed suicide.
However, today’s report is totally different, cheerful, and of bravery, too, as the ace diver saved a young girl. Had Jagdish Khare not acted swiftly and timely, the girl, who had jumped in the Gandhisagar Lake (Death Lake as is called by citizens) with intention to commit suicide, Khare would have been pulling the body of the girl as routine.
According to reports, uproarious scenes were witnessed at the lake when the girl jumped into it with 100 per cent intentions to end her life. This incident occurred at about 12.30 pm. However, destiny had different plans. The brave diver Jagdish Khare, who was present at the spot, within a minute jumped into the lake and started swimming towards the girl finding herself in troubled waters as fast as he could. Khare’s courageous act bore lively fruits as the girl was pulled out of the “deadly” waters of Gandhisagar alive. The diver Khare, in a professional way, first relieved her of water the girl had “drank” from her mouth by pumping her stomach and lungs.
Meanwhile, Ganeshpeth Police were informed about the incident who, too, rushed to their routine spot. The police rushed the girl to Mayo Hospital where she is undergoing treatment. However, till filing of this report by Nagpur Today, the reason (s) behind the girl taking the extreme step, and her name, have not been ascertained. When Nagpur Today contacted Ganeshpeth police for further information about the incident they said that the concerned staff has gone to Mayo Hospital for investigation purpose. The police said that they will inform the details as soon as the investigation is completed.
Now, focusing on the ace diver Jagdish Khare, who is not only a “proud citizen” of Nagpur but is a national “hero”. The Limca Book of Records honoured this man called Diver Jagdish Khare for his feat of retrieving or pulling out hundreds of bodies from Gandhisagar Lake of those who committed suicides for one reason or the other. However, the hero was treated by Nagpur Municipal Corporation in such a shabby manner that no sane person could imagine. The NMC stopped his honorarium for reasons better known to them only.
