Department of Management Technology, S.B.Jain Institute of Technology, Management & Research organized its second Management Conclave on Mumbai DABBAWALA– the real six sigma achievers. This conclave unfolded several dimensions of achieving six sigma, total quality management, Enhancing supply chain management and team dynamics through Mumbai’s Dabbawala.
Mumbai’s 5,000-odd Dabbawalas have been in action for over 125 years now, without any work stoppages. They deliver nearly 2, 00,000 lunches everyday and on time. Their unique management and operational models have become subjects of management study beyond text books for global business schools.
The Dabbawalas have a Six Sigma quality certificate and a global business fan club that includes Prince Charles and Richard Branson.
This conclave took place on 15thMarch, 2013 in the college Auditorium itself. It started at 11 am and concluded in late afternoon. Jaysing Sonu Phapale and Abhishek Dinkar Ekal were the guest speakers who had specially come from Mumbai for the Management Conclave 2013. The articulate speeches delivered by various Mumbai Dabbawala’s were astonishing and brilliant.
The people present there got to know the real management guru’s experience. The session was witnessed by various academicians and corporate of Nagpur, along with esteem members of various Colleges like Ramdeobaba engineering college, G.S College, Datta Meghe college, Punjabrao Deshmukh Institute, Nabira College and more. The gathering attended this mega event at large, and with great significance, where they got to know and learn the real case which is habitually referred in IIM’s and Top B-Schools.
