Nagpur: The “War of attrition” between the ‘tormentor’ power distribution franchisee SNDL and ‘habitual defaulter’ Pravin Raut, President of Police Nagrik Samanvyay Samiti, escalated on Diwali day. The SNDL not only snapped electric supply to the house of Raut but took away with them the power meter leaving the consumer fuming with boiling anger.

Reacting o the SNDL action, Raut termed the ‘high-handed’ action as mockery of India laws. “The goons of SNDL storming a consumer’s house and snapping power supply, taking meter with them under police protection is nothing but mockery of law of the land. How can the company take power meter of a consumer without notice. The meter is property of the consumer. That the cops remained mute spectators and watched the SNDL goons acting high-handedly shows that the system has gone berserk. Without the support of high and mighty politicians and administration, the power distribution company cannot dare to resort to such apprehensible action. SNDL is looting consumers since the past five years in more ways than one. Complaints of inflated power bills, faulty meters, no redressal of grievances and others are mounting day by day against the power distribution franchisee.”

On the other hand, the SNDL had debunked the charges and called Raut a ‘habitual’ defaulter who has not cleared power bills since 2014.
