Nagpur: A scorching summer afternoon brought life to a near standstill as temperatures soared to 43.2°C in Nagpur on Thursday, leaving usually busy stretches like the Shahid Gowari Flyover eerily deserted. Likewise, several main roads were deserted as residents preferred to stay indoors.
A top-view photograph captured from a nearby high-rise shows the flyover almost empty, reflecting the intensity of the heatwave gripping the city. The image also offers a striking glimpse of Nagpur’s skyline shimmering under the harsh sun, with minimal vehicular movement during peak afternoon hours.
According to weather indications, the mercury is expected to rise further, potentially touching 45°C in the coming days, intensifying concerns over prolonged heat exposure and its impact on daily life.
Authorities have advised citizens to avoid stepping out during peak hours and take necessary precautions as the city braces for even harsher conditions.
