Nagpur: A shocking murder in the MIDC Police Station limits has triggered fear and tension in the Matoshree Nagar area. An SRPF personnel, identified as Pankaj Thakur, was brutally killed after confronting a युवक who was allegedly stalking his daughter.
According to police sources, the accused, Akash Mandal, had been repeatedly loitering near Thakur’s residence in Wanadongri and allegedly following his daughter. After the girl informed her father, Thakur questioned the युवक about his suspicious movements.

On Thursday, the accused was again seen attempting to talk to the girl, which led to a heated argument between him and Thakur. Though the situation initially de-escalated, the accused later returned with his brother Harshit Mandal and a group of associates.
They allegedly attacked Thakur near his residence. When relatives tried to intervene, they too were assaulted. During the attack, Akash Mandal reportedly struck Thakur with an iron rod, causing severe injuries.
Thakur was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead during treatment. Some of his relatives also sustained injuries and are undergoing treatment.
Upon receiving information, MIDC Police reached the spot and launched immediate action. The main accused Akash Mandal and his brother have been arrested, while special teams have been formed to trace other suspects. CCTV footage from the area is being examined as part of the investigation.
Following the incident, tension has gripped the locality, and police presence has been intensified to maintain law and order. The brutal nature of the attack over a minor issue has left residents shocked and fearful.
