Nagpur: In a fresh administrative development, the Maharashtra Government has appointed IAS officer Dr. Vipin Itankar as the Municipal Commissioner of Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC). The order was issued by the General Administration Department at Mantralaya on March 5, 2026.
Dr. Itankar, who was serving as Nagpur District Collector, has been transferred and posted as the Municipal Commissioner of Nagpur Municipal Corporation. The government has directed him to assume charge of the new position immediately.
The order also mentions that until further instructions are issued, Dr. Itankar will continue to hold the additional charge of District Collector, Nagpur, ensuring administrative continuity in the district.
This appointment comes a day after the transfer of the existing Nagpur Municipal Commissioner, Abhijit Chaudhari, who has been posted as the Metropolitan Commissioner of the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA).
With Nagpur currently witnessing multiple infrastructure and civic development projects, the new administrative arrangement places Dr. Itankar in a crucial role overseeing the city’s municipal governance.
