Tiger Killed on Railway Tracks Near Jamtha in Nagpur

Nagpur: A sub-adult male tiger was found dead on railway tracks near Jamtha, close to pole number 819/22, in the vicinity of the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium and the Brahma Kumaris Ashram, forest officials said on Wednesday.

As per preliminary information provided by the Forest Department, the tiger was estimated to be around 1.5 years old. The carcass was discovered along the railway line under the Butibori forest range, following which officials rushed to the spot for inspection.

Initial assessment suggests that the animal may have been hit by a speeding train. The exact cause of death will be confirmed after the post-mortem examination.

The incident has once again raised concerns over wildlife safety along railway corridors passing through forest fringe areas around Nagpur, where tiger movement has been recorded in recent years. Forest authorities are carrying out further investigation and coordinating with railway officials to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident.
